A story about me

I live on a big forested lot in Minnesota with my wonderfully supportive husband who is from half a world away. Our land is reflective of our overall lifestyle – earthy, tranquil, yet ever-changing.

I love Minnesota, as well as the rest of the Earth and space and spaceTIME. One of my favorite subjects to reflect upon – with whomever has a spare moment to do so – is LIFE. Life, not so much as a biological process (although I am a student of BioScience), but rather, the origin of ANY life in this universe – or in the multiverse at large.

My #1 question is: “what is beyond the cosmic background radiation?”

I feel obliged to experience as much of our fragile planet as possible. My first sojourn overseas was to Bangladesh. I traveled there twice – at ages 19 and 22 – and I can honestly say that those journeys were personality-altering experiences. I will suffice it to say that it is a nation that should be experienced first-hand.

I love nature and life in all its forms. I have loved every place that I have been fortunate enough to visit. I have a strong appreciation for individual differences, which stems chiefly from education in biochemistry and working as a volunteer in adult basic education.

I take pride in my interpersonal communication skills.

I am an unfortunate sucker for novelty items, museums, wineries, and factory tours. I love crocheting afghans to give away as holiday presents.

I love working hard and having a [one or two!] cold beer(s) on Friday afternoon, as I come from a strong lineage of blue-collar workers. I worked for 10 years (medical implants) before attempting my bachelors degree. It has been very challenging, because I feel that ‘something is missing,’ – aside from my income!

I am an advocate for homeless rabbits.

Most of all, I try to contribute to my own and others’ happiness by being a good wife and friendly (not obnoxious) spirit, and providing assistance whenever I am able.

Interesting, the life you live is

Can I ask where your husband is from? Do you have children?

My husband is from Pakistan; his parents migrated there from India in the 1950s. He came to the US to attend college almost 20 (wow!) years ago.

We made a conscious decision, long ago, not to have children.

We have known each other for 12 years, and have been married for 7. It has been the most challenging & rewarding endeavour in my life to date.

Metamorphoses. :)

:-)

Please give my regards to your hubby! You two must have interesting time talking about various countries and cultures. You don’t have to answer the question that follows. Why do you not want to have children? I have wanted to have at least one child since I was a child myself.

Have you ever been to Scotland? If you would like to come here, we would be happy to be your hosts!

...apparently my manners escaped me momentarily…tell your lovely family that we said ‘hi’ too! :)

As I’m sure you know, it can be fascinating to marry someone from a different culture. In our case, the ‘road’ was ExTrEmEely BuMpY for the first several years of our relationship…but I’m SO glad we overcame our challenges. In what I believe was a rare situation, we ‘became’ soulmates!

Cultural differences have been most interesting to discuss when we’ve traveled to ‘completely new’ parts of the world, such as South America (Chile & Argentina) or SE Asia (Malaysia & Singapore).

sidebar – Isn’t modern technology amazing? I think it’s incredible that [one minnesotan of mixed southern european descent] and [one pakistani] can stand on the bottom of the planet and watch penguins. Spectacular!

As for having children, I did not always know whether or not I wanted offspring. I was open to either option until I hit 23/24, and at that point, I seriously contemplated the issue. After approaching the decision from all angles, I arrived at my conclusion.

The main thing was that I wanted for me and my husband to be on the SAME PAGE, in regards to procreation, before we got married.

...

Scotland…

Oddly enough, I actually had plans to visit Scotland last summer! Unfortunately, due to summer course scheduling, I wasn’t able to go, but I did a LOT of reading/research about it…I wanted to visit the Outer Hebrides, enjoy the serenity, and maybe crochet an afghan. :)

Thanks for your generous invite! If you ever find yourself in central MN, just holler!!

...that, if it’s as fascinating to marry someone of a different religion, then given that I’m a patient Romanian atheist, my soulmate is the first cute single Catholic school graduate in sight, 7 years from now :-)

great idea for a reality series...

I have lots of devout, young, female Roman Catholic relatives (I am mostly French-Canadian)- I can hook you up. ;)
